A freshman from Oklahoma has joined the Buccaneer volleyball team. Megan Young, a 5-8, middle blocker from Catoosa, Okla., arrived at Dawson Community College last week for fall training. "We are excited to broaden our recruiting base with the addition of Megan to the team," said Coach John Marble. Young, who plans to study psychology, comes to DCC with an all-district, all-state volleyball background on her high school varsity team. "Megan has a great arm on her and is a superb athlete,” Marble said.
Young is the ninth player to commit to the Lady Bucs. She joins the freshman recruiting class that includes 5-3 setter Amanda Krone of Great Falls, 5-10 outside hitter Alyson Murnion of Jordan, 5-8 setter Myriam Lebied-Julien of Riom, France, 6-3 middle blocker Kirby Sabec of Hardin, 5-11 middle blocker Amanda Little of Billings and 5-4 outside hitter Ashley Eslinger of Minot.
The Bucs’ two returning sophomores are Amanda Shadbolt, a 5-11 outside hitter from Humboldt, Saskatchewan, and Terah Lund, a 5-5 setter from Huntley. Regular season play is set to begin Aug. 28 on the road with a tournament in Willmar, Minn., but the Bucs are set up to scrimmage at Dickinson State University this weekend and with Trinity Bible at home next weekend. The first home game is set for Sept. 8 against Williston State College.
