Dawson Community College volleyball has started signing members of next fall's freshman class, starting with Livingston's Park High School senior Victoria Foster.
Coach John Marble recently announced Foster's commitment to the Lady Buccaneer volleyball team. "Victoria is a natural volleyball player and very athletic," he said. "She is loaded with potential."
Foster stands at 5'11" and is familiar with all positions at the net, playing outside hitter, middle blocker and right side in high school.
Marble said he is looking forward to having her on the team. "Victoria is a hard-working player that knows how to overcome adversity and compete," he said.
Foster will join five returning sophomores; Amanda Little, Ashley Eslinger, Megan Young, Myriam Lebied-Julien and Kirby Sabec all are expected to return in the fall. The Bucs are losing three seniors to graduation; Amanda Shadbolt, Terah Lund and Janelle Sheeran all were members of the inaugural Buccaneer volleyball team two years ago.
Right now, the team is focused on conditioning and weight training in preparation for the spring season. Try-outs were conducted on campus last week. Announcements on at least two more recruits will be coming in the near future, Marble said.
The Buccaneer volleyball program is entering its third year in existence; more information is available at www.dawson.edu/athletics/volleyball or on the Buccaneer volleyball fan page on Facebook.
