Brent Diegel, Head Coach of the Dawson Community College baseball program, has announced the signing of Braxton Davis, a right handed 1B/OF from Clinton, Utah. Davis is 6-2 and weighs 220 pounds. As a senior in 2008 at Northridge High School, Davis batted .440 with 10 homeruns and 29 RBIs. His outstanding play earned him an opportunity to play at Clarendon College in Texas, an NJCAA Division 1 program. During his 2009 freshman season at Clarendon, Braxton batted .320, hit 8 homeruns and drove in 41 runs. “As you can see from his stats, Braxton swings the bat very well,” remarks Coach Diegel. “He has had success at the high school and college level and will immediately contribute to our offense.” Davis sat out the spring 2010 season and will join the Buccaneers program at the beginning of the Fall 2010 semester. He plans to major in biology while he is enrolled at DCC.
Also signing a national letter of intent with DCC is Danny Smith, a member of the 2008-2009 Buccaneer baseball team. Smith, from Tremonton, Utah, did not play this season but will be back in uniform for the Bucs next fall. The DCC Buccaneers baseball team competes in Division II, Region IX of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
