Many of the Dickinson State University Volleyball Players were awarded Dakota Athletic Conference post season awards, due to their team’s stellar play this season. The Blue Hawks won the 2010 DAC title, at one point defeated 15 opponents in a row, and went 15-2 in the Dakota Athletic Conference.
Junior outside hitter Ruth Johnson and senior middle blocker Karen Almeida were both named to the first team of the DAC. Courtnie Trustem, a junior outside hitter, and Rebecca Johnson, a freshman libero, were named to the second and third team.
Coach Platt was pleased with the awards for their team’s players, “Ruth, Karen, Courtnie, and Rebecca are all deserving of these awards and we are all happy and proud of each of them. As a coach I was fighting for more of our players to get some of these awards. I was surprised that Crystal Frankin (DSU middle blocker) did not get on any of these lists after hitting over .300, leading the DAC in blocks, and being fifth in the nation in blocks. Maybe it is just me fighting for our kids, but I really felt she deserved to be on there. We are very proud of all of our players this year and are excited for our teammates that won these post season awards.”
