
Laurel, MT - The Buccaneer baseball team got back on the diamond and played Williston State (ND) on the road on Sunday, March 27, in a doubleheader. The Buccaneers won game one 7-6, in extra innings and game two, 10-5.
Freshman Cole Dooper (Laurel, MT) pitched 3 2/3 and allowed four runs on seven hits and gets the no decision. Dooper is 1-0 on the year. Sophomore Bobby King (Brigham City, UT) pitched 4 1/3 in relief and allowed six hits, two runs while striking out six batters, improving his record to 2-0 on the year.
Dawson Freshman Austin Sheppick (West Jordan, UT) went 3-5 with two RBIs. Freshman Hunter Balmer (Brigham City, UT) went 2-5 with one RBI. Sophomore Tanner Newman (Bozeman, MT) went 2-4 with one RBI. The Buccaneers had seven runs and eleven hits in the win.
In game two, Freshman Joey Hendericks (West Jordan, UT) pitched 6 innings and allowed four runs, two earned, on six hits while striking out three and improving to 2-1. Freshman Jordan Thompson (West Jordan, UT) pitched 1 inning in relief and allowed two hits, one run.
Dawson Sophomore Colter Joyce (Bozeman, MT) went 2-4 with three RBIs. Sophomore Chris Mjelstad (Billings,MT) went 3-4 with three RBIs and Sophomore Dalton Aiken (Ogden, UT) went 2-3 with three runs scored. As a team Dawson collected ten hits and ten runs.
The Buccaneers (6-6, 0-0) return to action at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, for a game against Miles Community College.
