
Glendive, MT - The Buccaneers baseball team have now won nine out of their last ten games by beating Miles community College (MT) with a score of 5-3 for the second time this year. The buccaneers are now 9-7 on the year.
Freshman Jeremiah Whitright (Wolf Point, MT) was the starting pitcher for the Buccaneers. Whitright pitched 5 strong innings and allowed one run and one hit while striking out six batters, before coming out of the game due to an injury. Cole Dooper (Laurel, MT) pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief and allowed three hits, two runs. Bobby King (Brigham City, UT) pitched 1 2/3 Shutout innings and gets credited with the win to improve to 3-0 on the year.
Meanwhile, Miles Community College (11-15-4-0 ) allowed five runs on ten hits. Tyler Christensen (Nibley, UT) pitched three innings in relief, allowing two runs on four hits and took the loss.
Dawson Freshman Austin Sheppick went 1-4 with two RBI’s. Sheppick, who was just named the Mon-Dak Player of the Week, hit a two run home run in the bottom of eighth inning to put the Buccaneers up 5-3. Freshman McKay Hedin (Logan, UT) also continues to swing a hot bat for the Buccaneers. McKay went 2-4 with one double, one triple and scored one run. Sophomore Joe Binstock (Billings, MT) was 2-3, with one run. Freshman Danny Smith (Tremonton, UT) and Jesse Gullion (Brigham City, UT) both went 1-3 with one RBI. As a team, the Buccaneers had five runs on ten hits.
Miles Community College sophomore Nic Johnston was 3-4 with one RBI. MCC collected three runs on five hits.
The Buccaneers (9-7-0-0) return to action at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 6, for a double header against Dickinson State University.
