
Glendive, MT. - The Dawson Community College baseball team played a two-game series against Dickinson State (ND). The Buccaneers suffered their worst loss of the year 12-0, but turned right back around to win the second game in extra innings 3-2.
In the opener, Freshman Joey Hendricks (West Jordan, UT) allowed seven runs, six earned, on nine hits and walked four, in 4 innings. In relief Freshman Jordan Thompson (West Jordan, UT) pitched 2 innings and allowed five runs, two earned runs on four hits. Hendericks took the loss and fell to 2-2 on the year.
For the buccaneers Balmer, Hedin, Sanchez, and Loundagin each had one hit a piece.
In game two, sophomore Dalton Aiken (Ogden, UT) allowed two runs, two earned, on five hits, striking out four in 6 innings and gets the no decision. In relief, Freshman Chance Anderson (Ogden, UT) pitched 2 shutout innings to earn his first win of the year.
Freshman Danny Smith (Tremonton, UT) went 2-4 with the game winning RBI in the bottom of the eighth inning. Austin Sheppick (West Jordan, UT) was 2-4 with an RBI double and scored one run in the game. Hunter Balmer (Brigham City, UT) went 2-4.
The Buccaneers (10-8-0-0) will start conference play this weekend at home, as they will take on Bismarck State College at 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday April 9 and at 12 and 2 p.m. on Sunday April 10.
