DCC Baseball Improve To 9-3 In Mon-Dak Conference

Bismarck, ND - The Buccaneers baseball team traveled to Bismarck St. (ND) for a conference doubleheader. The Buccaneers won game one 8-2 and finished off the two game series with a 5-2 win in the second game.

In game one, Freshman Cole Dooper (Laurel, MT) pitched 5 shutout innings, allowing just two hits on the day.  Dooper has now improved his record to 3-0 on the year with a 1.85 ERA in 22 2/3 innings pitched, while averaging seven strike outs a game. Freshman Jordan Thompson (West Jordan, UT) pitched 2 innings in relief, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out two.

The Mystics offensively had two runs on four hits.

Dawson sophomore Tanner Newman (Bozeman, MT) went 1-2 with one RBI and one run scored. Sophomore Dalton Aiken (Ogden, UT) was 1-3 with one RBI and one run scored. Freshman Hunter Balmer (Brigham City, UT) went 2-4 with two RBI’s. Sophomore Chris Mjelstad (Laurel, MT) went 2-4 with two doubles and two RBI’s. Freshman Jesse Gullion (Brigham City, UT) was 2-4 with one run scored. The Buccaneers had eight runs and eleven hits in the win.

In game two, Sophomore Anthony Kuntz (Laurel, MT) pitched 4 innings and allowed one run on two hits while striking out four. He improved to 3-2 on the year with a 3.30 ERA in 29 2/3 innings pitched. Freshman Andy Hopson (Ogden, UT) pitched 3 innings in relief, allowing one run on one hit.

Freshman Austin Sheppick (West Jordan, UT) went 1-2 with an RBI double and one run scored. Sophomore Chris Mjelstad (Laurel, MT) went 1-2 with one run scored. Sophomore Tanner Newman (Bozeman, MT) went 1-2 with one RBI. Freshman Cole Dooper (Laurel, MT) went 1-3 with one run scored. The Buccaneers had five runs on five hits in the win.

The Mystics offensively had two runs on three hits.

The buccaneers (21-11-9-3) return to action at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 for a double header at Williston State College.
