The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced that Dawson Community College women’s volleyball team was among those to receive the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2010-2011 season. “Our Lady Buccaneers are one of only 12, two year schools in the nation to receive the award” said DCC Coach John Marble. “I am proud of their exceptional effort! They maintained a 3.34 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale during the school year.”
AVCA Executive Director, Kathy DeBoer extended congratulations and credit to all the caring volleyball coaches who struck a balance between academic achievement in the classroom and success on the court.
Awarded to collegiate and high school volleyball teams since the 1992-93 academic year, this academic accolade recognizes volleyball athletes who display excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
