Dawson Community College announced this week that Leanne Hoagland, Agribusiness Program Director, is serving on the State Career and Technical Education Board this 2013-2014. The Montana Commissioner of Higher Education (OCHE) and the Montana Office of Public Instruction (OPI) extended the invitation to Hoagland.
Hoagland, along with other invitees will play an important role on the State CTE Board, helping the state's Big Sky Pathway Initiative and Perkins programs align current educational curriculum with the needs of business and industry, so that Montana students graduate college, career ready. She has attended the first meeting at Helena College in Helena, Montana.
The State Career and Technical Education Board (CTE) consists of business and industry leaders representing the 16 career clusters outlined by the National Career Pathway Framework. As part of the board, Hoagland will meet 3 times per year, and serve in an advisory capacity to the State CTE Executive Leadership Team, or SELT. The team includes Two Year & Community College Education and Secondary Career and Technical Education Leadership from both OPI and OCHE.
