Dawson Community College in conjunction with the Glendive Medical Center will offer a CNA classes October 7th through the 29th at a cost of $70 plus book.
Certified Nursing Assistants, or CNAs, as they are more commonly called, play a highly significant part in the field of health care. Also known as patient care technicians, orderlies, and nurse’s aides, these people provide an indispensable part of patient care. A Certified Nursing Assistant helps nurses in medical facilities by giving basic care to the patients, which is vital in hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes. The demand is high for qualified CNAs.
As an incentive Glendive Medical Center reimburses the cost of tuition, testing and books for students that successfully pass the class and are hired at GMC. In addition, GMC offers temporary employment for select students in class. "We essentially pay them for their time spent in class.” said Staci Knuths, Recruitment Specialist-Glendive Medical Center. "GMC has openings for qualified CNA’s. Interested candidates can contact me at GMC at 345-2608 for more information.”
The CNA training course supplies the participant with skills enabling them to perform effectively as an entry level nursing assistant, primarily in a long term care facility. The method for reaching that goal combines both a sound technical and theoretical background as well as an opportunity for experience in a supervised clinical environment. Successful completion of the training will satisfy requirements for Medicaid Certification.
For a flyer with class times and payment information check out www.dawson.edu/workshops on the web. Registered Nurse, Donna Knuths, will be instructing the CNA course. Cost for the 4-credit, 80-hour course is $70.00 plus book available through the DCC bookstore at 377-9457. Enrollment is limited.
For additional information contact Marilyn Dutton 377-9405 or Dawson Community College at main number 377-3396. The CNA course is offered several times during the year.
