Activities, Clubs & Organizations
Extracurricular student activities are an important part of college life. Students at DCC have been involved throughout the years in activities that develop camaraderie, school spirit, and and interest in DCC. We encourage you to get involved in any number of activities that suit your interests.
Associated Student Body of DCC (ASB)
All regularly enrolled full-time students of the College are members of the Associated Student Body of Dawson Community College. A Student Senate, elected as representatives of the freshman and sophomore classes, acts as a governing board of the ASB. The Senate plans recreational and social activities for the student body and participates with faculty and the community in planning events. The Senate also participates in DCC governance via appointments to college committees. A portion of the fees paid each semester is routed to ASB to finance activities.
A DCC Pep Band practices regularly to perform at DCC athletic events and other school functions. Students earn credit for their participation.
DCC Choral groups perform at various college functions. The groups practice regularly and these students earn credit for their participation, too.
Members will participate in campus and community service projects that promote the college and agriculture. The group will also work with elementary and high school students to support agriculture awareness and related FFA activities as well as develop leadership skills that encourage individuals to become agriculture teachers. Members will enjoy the opportunity to gather for social events related to their membership in the organization. Collegiate FFA will help its members achieve productive careers and lives in agriculture.
DCC has a nature trail for students to use. The trail-head is located in the east parking lot and follows the contours of the land surrounding the DCC campus. The nature trail is approximately four miles in length. Bring a friend, and take a hike!
The DCC Fitness Center is located in the basement of the main building. The Fitness Center houses weight benches, dumbbells, freeweights, universal machine, treadmill, stationary bike, Nordic Trac machine and other assorted fitness equipment for you to use. Students may use the Center at anytime during the week except when scheduled classes are utilizing the facilities. Take a friend and get fit!
The Human Service Club promotes socialization among members, professional development of students and community service activities. Membership is not restricted but generally is made up of students who are interested in human services careers.
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
As part of a nation-wide international student organization on college and university campuses, this group is concerned with presenting Christianity as an important part of college and university life. Programs include speakers, Bible study, and discussion groups. It is open to all students.
The DCC Intramural program aims to provide students with the opportunity to participate in individual and team sports in a variety of recreational activities. Activities are organized on a team or individual basis, thus enabling everyone from the beginner to the serious participant to take part.
The main objective of this organization is to promote professional standards in law enforcement and to develop more understanding of the problems and objectives of those agencies devoted to the administration of criminal justice. Membership in this organization is limited to law enforcement majors and students employed in the criminal justice field.
To make a notable difference in the programs, social activities and extracurricular activities throughout the school is the goal of the Music Club. Participation is open to all students involved in any aspect of the Music Department.
Phi Theta Kappa, International Honor Society of the two-year colleges, is recognized by the American Association of Community Colleges as the official honor society for two-year colleges. Its purpose is to recognize and encourage scholarship among associate degree students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa provides opportunities for the development of leadership and service, an intellectual climate to exchange ideas, lively fellowship for scholars and stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.
The DCC Rodeo Club's objective is to sponsor an annual rodeo for inter-collegiate competition within the Big Sky region of the NIRA (National Inter-collegiate Rodeo Association). Membership is open to all DCC students interested in promoting the sport of rodeo on campus.
The purpose of this club is to promote harmony and understanding between Indian and non-Indian students at DCC, and to encourage Indian students to further their education. Both Indian and non-Indian students are urged to join the United Badlands Indian Club and participate in its activities.
