Continuing Education Department
Mission
The mission of the Continuing Education Department is to provide diverse educational opportunities for personal and professional growth for individuals and organizations in eastern Montana.
Goal
The goal of the Continuing Education Department is to develop educational opportunities whereby residents may enrich their lives. Continuing Education workshops/classes are designed to meet the needs of individuals, businesses, and other community organizations/groups.
Programs
Personal Enrichment
Personal enrichment classes are designed to promote personal growth in various disciplines including finance, history, performing arts, and leisure activities. These offerings are designed to attract participants from all major constituencies within the community. In addition, classes can be tailored for specific community groups and organizations.
Corporate Learning for Business
Corporate learning classes are designed to support the business community with quality, cost efficient, customized training. Tailored educational activities have included business skills, computer training, technology, industrial hydraulics, healthcare (CNA, EMT -Basic), and the Montana Fire School. DCC works with clients to provide flexibility in scheduling and location. Fees are based on the hours of instruction, the number of employees, and the materials involved.
DCC is a member of the Community College Consortium Online. Through CCC Online, students can obtain an accredited Associate of Arts degree, or all but four courses of an Associate of Applied Science degree in business. The remaining four courses of the A.A.S. degree can be completed at DCC or through independent study.
Interactive Television
DCC provides interactive video instruction at high school sites throughout eastern Montana. The interactive television (ITV) links students and teachers together as one class in rooms that may be hundreds of miles apart. ITV makes it possible for students to participate in courses which in the past were unavailable due to travel limitations.
High School Interactive Television (ITV) Academy
High school students participating in the Dawson Community College ITV Academy can receive college credit while experiencing an actual college class. Students enrolled in these classes have the same rights and privileges as other DCC students including access to the library and support services. The ITV Academy delivers a minimum of nine ITV college classes to high school juniors and seniors over a two year period. Note: students must be at least 16 years of age.
