New and Transfer Student

Orientation and Registration

DCC believes in a formal orientation to acquaint new and transfer students with the policies and organization of the school. Orientation days are set aside at the beginning of each semester for this process. Placement tests, campus information sessions and group advising are some of the activities that take place during Orientation.

Students also meet with a faculty advisor during this time to arrange a class schedule for the semester. The student and advisor work cooperatively to plan the student's course of study so that the student enrolls in courses, which meet the requirements of the college and other institutions to which the student may be planning to transfer.

Summer Advance Registration sessions give students an opportunity to take placement tests and arrange a class schedule for the fall semester, eliminating some stress for those who are able to attend. However, these students must attend Orientation to receive all pertinent information about college policies that is not presented at Advance Registration.
