Residency Requirements

In-District Students are those:

  • Whose parents pay taxes on real property located within the Dawson Community College District and who have resided in the district one continuous year or more.
  • Whose parents have had permanent residence for one full year or more in the Dawson Community College District.
  • Who are real property taxpayers in the Dawson Community College District and
    - who have lived in the Dawson Community College District for a continuous year, and
    - who have taken all reasonable steps to establish residency, and
    - who have not enrolled in any DCC class during that continuous year.

Out of District Students are residents of Montana who do not qualify as In-District residents.

Out of State Students are those whose parents are neither residents of the state nor Montana real property taxpayers.

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE), are those who are residents of Alaska, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Students may enroll at Dawson Community College in all programs, paying resident tuition plus 50% of that amount (plus other fees that are paid by all students). WUE students do not pay the higher charge for out of state tuition.
