GRANT PROGRAMS AVAILABLE

Grants are a form of financial aid, based on need, which you do not have to repay. There are six (6) grants available through the Dawson Community College Financial Aid Office, all of which can be applied for by completing the FAFSA form.  All grants offered through the Financial Aid Office are for individuals attempting to earn their first undergraduate degree or certificate.
               
FEDERAL PELL GRANT
This is a federal entitlement program which is given to all eligible applicants. The amount of the award varies with the EFC and is prorated for those attending less than fulltime. 
                 
FEDERAL SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY GRANT (FSEOG)  Students who demonstrate exceptional financial need and receive a Pell Grant have top priority for these funds. 

 

ACADEMIC COMPETITIVENESS GRANT ( ACG)

Academic Competitiveness Grant is a federal grant available to students in their first or second year of an undergraduate degree program.  It is designed to encourage students to take more challenging courses in high school. Eligible students must be a U.S. citizen; have graduated from high school after January 1, 2005; completed a rigorous high school program of study; be a Federal Pell Grant recipient; and be enrolled fulltime in a two or four year degree program.  Maximum amounts are $750 for the first year and $1,300 for the second year.          
              

BAKER GRANT/MTAP 

The Baker, or MTAP, funds are available for Montana residents who have earnings greater than $2,575 and an EFC between 0 and 6810 and whose parent(s) or dependent(s) are Montana residents.  Students must be enrolled fulltime. 

MONTANA HIGHER EDUCATION GRANT (MHEG) 

This is a federal and state funded grant program based on need, which is restricted to undergraduate students who are Montana residents.

ACCE$$ Grant

This program, established by the Student Assistance Foundation, is available on a limited basis to students who are Montana residents, eligible for financial aid, enrolled as fulltime students and who meet other program specific requirements. 

MGSLP Grant

This program, established by the Montana Guaranteed Student Loan Program, is available on a limited basis to students who are Montana residents, eligible for financial aid, enrolled as fulltime students and who meet other program specific requirements
