Applications of mathematics to a variety of disciplines. This course is designed for the non-math/science major. Topics include geometry, applications to the natural sciences and social sciences, and an introduction to financial mathematics, sets, counting, and elementary probability and statistics.

Prerequisite: WRIT101. Course content includes composing effective communications through letters and memos in a clear, complete, concise manner. Report writing and speaking to groups is also covered. Special emphasis is placed on job hunting and resume writing.

This is an integral, helpful course for any student planning to work in a medical environment. An introduction to medical word building through the study of prefixes, suffixes, and Latin roots, using a body system approach. The format of this course is online. The student will be responsible for completing weekly workbook assignment, weekly quiz, midterm, and final.

This course provides 30 hours of training to assess, place, and treat individuals with gambling and gaming disorders and includes online addictions as described in DSM-5. This is an online course – must register prior to June 28 in order to complete by July 31.

Public speaking is a foundational communication and academic course. This course emphasizes building skills to become a more effective communicator in the classroom, the workplace, and within the community, including the responsible use of information through research, organizational preparation, ability to critique information, and speech delivery. Students are expected to participate in online discussions and activities focused on the craft of public speaking. Course format: Weekly online discussion threads, weekly assignments, and final.

June 5; 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

This workshop examines the challenges encountered by a science teacher in the management of an educational science lab. Chemical procurement, storage/disposal, safety equipment requirements/standards, student/instructor behavior/safety, and how to develop a hygiene plan will be covered. Everyday challenges of implementing a lab curriculum that is both safe and educationally effective will be emphasized. Open to anyone who teaches in or is involved with the management of an educational science lab. Discussion/sharing of experiences will be encouraged, and both new and experienced science teachers are encouraged to enroll.

This workshop is an introduction to working in stained glass. The student will explore the preparation of stained glass designs by learning to cut glass, put together a panel using copper foil, and soldering the panel. Registration fee ($99) includes glass and basic supplies.
