DCC Welcomes New Mathematics Faculty

Dawson Community College and President Scott R. Mickelsen are pleased to announce and welcome new faculty member Dr. Jennifer Weeding. Dr. Weeding will be teaching Mathematics full-time for DCC beginning this fall semester.

An eastern Montana native, Dr. Weeding holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and master’s and doctoral degrees in Statistics from Montana State University. She has served as an adjunct instructor of Mathematics and Statistics in both online and on-campus courses for Montana State University. Dr. Weeding has shown herself to be an exceptional instructor, earning MSU’s Dr. Bill Stannard Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Teaching in 2015 and the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award from the MSU Mathematical Studies Department for 2012-2013.

“All of our students are required to take a math course, and as we increase our number of students, as well as expand our offerings, we needed to add a math faculty member,” said Traci Masau, Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. “Dr. Weeding is not only qualified, but she’s very excited about teaching statistics. With her hire, we’ll be looking at offering evening and online math courses, as well as offering the math sequence needed for Elementary Education majors. She and long-time math instructor Mike Hunter will work together on our offerings.”
