Reserve Officer Training dates for Fall Semester 2017 have been announced:

The Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Program at Dawson Community College is pleased to announce the dates for its Reserve Officer Training course for Fall Semester 2017:

  • Lecture Session I:  September 8, 9, 10
  • Lecture Session II:  September 15, 16, 17
  • Firearms Training:  September 30-October 1 and October 7-8
  • First Aid/CPR:  To be announced
  • NOTE:  Students must attend both lecture sessions; individuals completing Firearms and/or First Aid/CPR through their departments may be eligible for a waiver from those portions of the training.

This is the 20th year that DCC has been able to offer the Reserve Officer Training program to Montana’s law enforcement agencies.  The curriculum was developed from the performance objectives of the Montana Law Enforcement Academy’s (MLEA) Police Basic Training Course. Agencies in DCC’s 17-county service area were asked to review relevant performance objectives from the Basic course, and identify the types of training a reserve officer should receive.  Those results were then compiled into a comprehensive training curriculum for reserve officers that is intended to meet and/or exceed the 88 hours of training required by Montana law. Review of the curriculum is continual and topics and material are updated every year as necessary.  Rest assured that your reserve officers will receive quality training at a reasonable cost.  In addition, officers receive college credit, which can be applied towards a college degree.

If you are interested in attending our training, please complete the attached sign-up form and the Application for Non-Degree Seeking Students and return them to Holly Dershem-Bruce, Dawson Community College, PO Box 421, Glendive, Montana  59330.
