Dawson Community College Hosts Breakfast with a Vet in Observation of Veterans Day

GLENDIVE, Mont., Nov. 11, 2022 -- Dawson Community College (DCC) hosted its 2nd Annual Breakfast with a Vet gathering at the Jane Carey Memorial Library on campus in honor of Veterans Day. This event was organized by DCC’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee as a small token of appreciation to the brave men and women who have served our country.

At this year’s breakfast, veterans were thanked for their service and encouraged to share personal stories of serving over a free meal. The event included a flag folding ceremony that was led by DCC’s President, Justin Villmer. He delivered a message to the attendees which focused on gratitude to the veterans and everyone who assisted with making the event a success. “It was an honor to connect with and serve the many veterans in attendance,” said Villmer. “It was also really rewarding to see the students engage and recognize those that have served.”

The Mayor of Glendive, Teresea Olson, was in attendance and participated in the flag folding ceremony. Olson, along with local business owner, Misty Dorsey, folded the flag while one of DCC’s DEI committee members, Courtney Wuethrich, read the meaning behind the 13 folds of the United States Flag.

The Breakfast with a Vet will continue to be an annual tradition at DCC and a part of their year-around support for those who have served in the military.
