Parapathways Level 2: DCC Courses
Once a qualified paraeducator has finished Level 1, they can consider Level 2 of the Parapathways Program. At this level, paras will complete 13 college credits (4 classes). Upon completing these courses and completing some accompanying paperwork, they will be certified as Special Education Technicians (pending Board of Public Education Approval).
The four courses will follow an 8-week schedule and be fully asynchronous, fully online in order to accommodate working professionals' work schedules. That said there are a few important aspects to consider before applying for Level 2:
- The courses (listed below) are fully-accredited college courses taught by qualified teaching faculty. Each instructor may have different expectations but will teach their course with college-level rigor.
- The courses are permanently added to a students' college transcript. This allows for easier transference; however, if a student fails a course it may have an impact on their academic standing.
- Each course is 8 weeks long, meaning there is no overlap between courses. You only take one at a time.
