Hazing Prevention

Dawson Community College Statement on Hazing Prevention

Every year, students across the nation are affected by hazing. At Dawson Community College, we believe there is no place for practices that are unnecessary, harmful, or that undermine student success.

Student safety and well-being extend beyond the classroom, the court, or the field. Nationally, increased media attention and criminal investigations have highlighted concerns about hazing, bullying, sexual harassment, and inappropriate relationships. As digital communication and social media continue to expand, these issues can escalate more quickly and with greater impact.

Dawson Community College is committed to maintaining a respectful, inclusive, and supportive campus environment. Hazing directly contradicts our institutional values and the expectations we set for all members of the DCC community. It threatens trust, compromises safety, and weakens the sense of belonging we strive to create for our students.

In compliance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act and in alignment with DCC policies and community standards, the College takes proactive steps to prevent hazing through education, awareness, and clear reporting procedures. Dawson Community College remains committed to accountability, transparency, and the protection of every student.

Hazing has no place at DCC. Together, we build a community based on respect, responsibility, and Buccaneer pride.
